This sounds like a Roarsome Adventure

Every great adventure deserves a great soundtrack.

Sound sets the mood and uplifts the soul. An epic road trip or journey is just not the same without the music to match.

The crackly old radios on our converted school buses just didn’t quite cut the mustard, and this was particularly unacceptable considering the fact that the buses are currently available for staycations on Osea Island (only 1 slot left available) - a place which features a state-of-the-art recording studio, used by the likes of Amy Winehouse and Rihanna, and owned by Nigel Frieda, the producer of the Rolling Stones.

No, we couldn’t embarrass ourselves in front of Nigel like that. We needed to step our game up. We needed to find the perfect partner who could provide our adventures with truly roarsome sound before we move the buses down to Cornwall for the rest of the summer.

Introducing the master craftsmen at ‘Concept Object’, who were sent by the sound gods to give the buses the adventure soundtracks that they deserve. These guys use reclaimed and sustainably sourced materials to redesign sound for any space. We invited Maddie and Moolark - the geniuses behind the brand - for a few Roarsome Brews around the campfire, and watched them work their magic. The result is the raddest, retro-style, custom-built, bluetooth speaker system that any camper van has ever seen.

Talk to us about the reclaimed materials used for these speakers?

The speakers are lovely Tannoys which came from a mall in Birmingham

The amplifier came from an old Jukebox. It needed to be low power to be suitable for the buses.

The plywood/timber was from a Hackney studio who had used it as a one-off backdrop for a photoshoot.

The Horns are made out of Jesmonite, a beautiful sustainable material that drys a bit like concrete

Why do Concept Objects sound so roarsome?

We put our objects into hard-working spaces where they need to perform for a long time. With components that can be old and unloved, we need to do lots of testing before installing and nothing beats turning an unloved item back into a desirable object. Old audio has the most soul, and finding those treasures and bringing them back from the brink is what gives our sound that extra life.

Talk to us about Concept Object’s design principles?

Sustainability - Striving to turn unwanted into exclusive - Our materials for our OBJECTS are reclaimed or sustainably sourced. For example the drivers in our OBJ.No.01 came from a closed venue which we restored to their full potential, the only new parts are wires and terminals. The components in our amplifiers are all new and due diligence assembled to meet safety requirements.

Craft - Putting craft at the heart of our business, we travelled to Wales to work with a carpenter on OBJ.No.01 who learnt how to design speakers from his father and taught us the fundamentals of volume and renaissance. OBJ.No.06 is hand sculpted by a young ceramist in Walthamstow.  Every object we sell has been touched by an independent maker and brought to life through collaboration.

Community - From our materials, suppliers, collective of collaborators to the service we offer and customers we value, everyone who is part of Concept Object has appreciation of conscious spaces and simple design supporting our mission to seek sound and vision.
